This is the fifth year of the CrossFit Open competition and the fifth year we’ve done the workouts at Integral CrossFit.
To make things more interesting this year we decided to encourage everyone to compete in a gym Intramural league. Three team captains were chosen from the membership and a two stage draft was held. In stage one all of the competitive members–those who paid CrossFit to compete–names were put in a bowl and randomly chosen by the captains.
In stage two the rest of the active members names were put in the bowl and selected one by one until all the names were gone. No school yard team selection anxiety, a fair process with everyone being selected.
Every Friday night for five weeks we gather for the competition, three heats with athletes and judges, both RX workouts and scaled from CrossFit and a special Integral CrossFit scaling where needed. The team scores are totaled from the scores of all that are involved.
Being in the first heat allows more time to relax with a cool one. Which makes the later judging a little dicey.
The athletes work hard for themselves as well as their team and can be proud of their score.
